Branch Mission:
The Metro Youth YMCA or MY-Y empowers youth and families to achieve their maximum potential

National Mission:
To put Judeo Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

The Metro Youth YMCA is a community based non-facility YMCA designed to serve young people in Detroit and surrounding communities. We believe young people are our most valuable assets and as such they require support to develop their potential. We strive to achieve this end by offering young people programs that challenge them to graduate high school, improve their communities, explore careers, and pursue post secondary education emphasizing college.

Our core program is the Future Professionals Academy:

FPA is an academic year program for young people in grades 8-11. This program meets weekly and cultivates students’ mind body and soul. Nearly every month from Nov- May students will visit a college or university to learn about their programs and admissions requirements. Students also can experience interactive art classes, healthy living activities, mentoring, internships and camping retreats. We intensify the program for 12th graders. They enroll in the senior track known as Countdown to Success, CTS. CTS is a guidance program designed to prepare high school seniors for college through individualized counseling and group workshops.
